Fashion Month | The Wrap Up
With fashion month coming to an end - wrapping perfectly with Chanel and Louis Vuitton - we have seen some stellar fashion from the hallowed runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris. It was largely a season of reduction - many designers going back to their roots, offering palette cleansing collections or speaking with a refreshed and minimalistic tone. After several years of mayhem in both the fashion world and the globe at large, there was a refreshing lightness that shone from this round of sartorial spectacle, and we are ready to welcome it with open arms.
Victoria Beckham
Iconic in more ways than one, Victoria Bekcham presented her first show in Paris this season, having spent her formative years in New York and a stint at 'home' in London. Whilst her codes have always been apparent, she has come a long way since her freshman show which saw her present a tight curation of bodycon dresses.
This season, inspired by natures curves (think shells, coral, rock formations et al), saw a sensuous line-up walk the runway, punctuated with signature tailoring (sometimes oversized, sometimes deconstructed) and lashings of luxurious detailing. Our favourites? The ivory one-shouldered gown dissected by diagonal ruffles and the soft pink tailoring with the disappearing lapels (they were there, but somehow weren't). We can't wait to share this collection in store with you all - we were inspired and we know you will be too.

Isabel Marant
If ever there was a designer with a signature look and the ability to capture a certain feel via fashion, it was Isabel Marant. Marant herself owns the nonchalant, Parisenne look that she captured in the late 90's and has maintained to this day. For Spring '23, she referenced those days, sending Marant signatures down the runway one after the other. There were the thigh-skimming lengths, the intricate artistry, the simple colour palette. It was a collection you could easily slip into, reassuring in its nostalgia and effortless in the way you could picture the exact moment and place where you might wear such a look. You could even feel the late summer sun setting on your skin with some of these numbers. Personally we can't resist a suggestive mini and the handkerchief-hemmed, delicately detailed cream dress was no exception.

Proenza Schouler
As ever, there was definite 'coolness' to the Proenza Schnouler Spring '23 collection and despite a presentation that featured luxurious detailing, print, artistry, frills, bold colour (what else is there!?), there was still the inherant simplicity to the looks and the visual as a whole that the boys from NYC have become known for. Frills, lace and hyper-colour all played key roles here, but it was the use of gold buttons and finishings - often saved for more traditional looks and heritage brands - that took this collection to new heights. However it was the curved heels that somehow combined the quirky with an appropriateness for everyday that took our fancy. Watch this space.
